Numbers 29 continues with God setting forth the the special times the people are to observe and with each of the final three observances are the words hold a sacred assembly v. 1, 7, 12. In reading each of these I can’t help but think about the future time when all will worship God in His truth. Follow Me. Isn’t that God wants from each of us? Our hearts turned to Him. On the first day of the seventh month hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. It is a day for you to sound the trumpets. v. 1. Can you imagine how thrilling that sound was for the people? A day to sound the trumpets! For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.
We will be with the Lord forever. Atonement already made; all of us being together living worship. At the end of these special times of observance, the people went back to their regular activities. When we are with God, we will no longer return to what was. We will be with the Lord forever.
These observances were a foreshadowing of a future time and one day we will experience the fullness of their meaning and fulfillment in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he has made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment – to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. Ephesians 1:3-10.
The trumpet will sound and we will be with Him forever. Just as the people needed to prepare themselves for these special observances, let us prepare our hearts to be with Him forever. Follow Him. It begins with listening to Him. He inspired a whole book of instruction. He came to this Earth to be with us to show us what God’s love looks like. Listen to Him. He never leaves us without help and He has been speaking to us from the beginning. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. John 16:13-15. We will be with Him forever. Take His hand now. He’s here where He’s always been and always will be. With us.
