Everything Accounted For

This morning in our Friday morning prayer group, we were small in number but great in adoration and wonder at all God does. Our praise and wonder and discussion of the math behind everything was prayer of praise. We looked at images of galaxies and for the first time I could grasp better the concept that astronomers knew from the math that something existed before they could see it; and with that understanding found what was not yet visible, but knew had to be there from the math they did understand. Can you imagine? I pray God fires our imaginations because everything exists because of Him. From Quarks (the smallest yet known particles) to the immensity of the Universe itself, from the physical world we see and those things we can’t yet see…to the Spiritual world God inhabits that is outside of time and space. Time and space, too, were created by God for us. As one of our members said, Creator God is more than capable of handling any and all problems that we may face and we need to grow in trust in His capable wisdom.

God accounted for the care of the tabernacle, too, in Numbers 3. The Lord said to Moses, “Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him. They are to perform the duties for him and for the whole community at the tent of meeting by doing the work of the tabernacle. v. 5-7. No work was unaccounted for, no work was too small for God’s consideration and instruction.

Every male a month or more old was counted in the tribe of Levi and the total number was 22,000. v. 39. He even had Moses count all the firstborn Israelite males a month old or more and that total was 22,273. v. 43. Then, for me, a curious verse. The Lord also said to Moses, “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be mine. I am the Lord. To redeem the 273 firstborn Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites, collect five shekels for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. Give the money for the redemption of the additional Israelites to Aaron and his sons. v. 44-48.

Creator God created math. He created the laws that govern the physical and spiritual realms and nothing was left undone. Everything is accounted for. We try to fit everything we don’t understand into our limited understanding. In doing that how can we help but limit our limitless Creator God? A Creator who brings out of what was not before the things we see, feel, hear, sense cannot be limited by what was created.

I feel so acutely at times my lack of understanding math. But that’s okay…others do understand and with that knowledge are able to design a telescope that can orbit the Sun, 1.5 million kilometers (1 million miles) away from the Earth at what is called the second Lagrange point or L2. (About Webb Orbit). Why does that matter? How can it not?

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? Psalm 8:3-4. That you have set in place…

Everything is accounted for and how grateful we can be for our Creator God who leaves nothing undone. He gave us free will. We are free to choose. That, too, is accounted for. We see the best that human minds can do and we see the worst. We read the accounts of God’s care and attention for us throughout Scripture and always, He admonishes us…Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. Can you create a Quark out of nothing? Can you rescue a nation of enslaved people and guide them even to the handling of everything physical for the dwelling place God’s Presence would be for them? Can you look at the distant stars and wonder? The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:1-2, 7. Everything accounted for!
