Redeemed

In this final Chapter of Leviticus, Leviticus 27, God instructs in how they can make a special vow to Him. The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate a person to the Lord by giving the equivalent value, set the value…’” v. 1-8. This is separate from the tithe which belonged to God anyway. It got me thinking about what it means to redeem. Animals and property could be redeemed…bought back but with an amount added to its value. But nothing that a person owns and devotes to the Lord – whether a human being or an animal or family land – may be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord. v. 28.

1 Samuel tells about Hannah, who longed for a child and vowed to give her son to the Lord should she become pregnant. She bore Samuel and Hannah was faithful to the Lord and gave Samuel to the Lord. Samuel became one of the great prophets of the Lord.

But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Psalm 24:1-2.

There is such treasure in God’s Scripture. He tells us to love our enemies, He tells us we are His. As I read His inspired word and devotionals every morning, how can I not pull together such treasure of understanding without His help? Reading Hearing God Through the Year by Dallas Willard, a Scripture reference: He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. Daniel 2:22.

Light dwells with Him. My family is never far from my heart and prayers and by extension, every person; how can I not pray for everyone? I’m learning from Him to trust them to Him. Everything. He told me in prayer this morning: You are mine. Learning your great need for Me draws you home where you are loved and where your home is. I am your home. Come into the light of My love and be with Me. Each journey home is unique. Be patient with everyone and trust them to Me. Your path is not their path. I know every heart and every need.

How can I not trust God when He alone knows every single heart…every single need? I don’t. We are redeemed. We are His. Light dwells with Him and how we need the light of His love leading us to Him and away from the darkness. I trust Him because He is good and His love heals us. All of us. Can you imagine?
