Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you”…Exodus 31:1-6. Can you imagine? And to do all of this in the wilderness?

And then…Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy….for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’” v. 12-17.

I confess I stumble a bit there. I looked at the trusty timeline at the front of my Bible: Creation undated…Noah builds the ark undated. The first recorded dating…2500 B.C. Egyptians discover papyrus and ink for writing and build the first libraries; iron objects manufactured in the ancient Near East. Obviously, a lot happened between those unknown dates and 2500 B.C. and just as obviously, before that. If I could sit down with God and interview Him that’s one thing I would ask. In six days You made the heavens and the earth…and on the seventh day You rested and were refreshed? Could we see a video of the Creation? How cool would that be? Could we?

There are some who discount the whole account of the Creation because they can’t reconcile the time shown in days. Some discount Adam and Eve as a story. In our chapter now, God filled one man with wisdom, understanding, knowledge and with all kinds of skills…and we can see the minds God created that can study and expand our human understanding of sciences, maths, languages, histories, technologies, philosophies…the list is as endless as are the minds capable of searching and expanding knowledge further and further. I marvel at those minds. I marvel at the beauty of the Created and I marvel even more at the beauty of the Creator. I didn’t expect God to answer my question of how it was done in six days or what that meant. What He did answer…One day there will be greater understanding. Now there is faith and trust in Me. Search your heart and find Me there. Look for hope and find Me there. Open your heart to Me and find joy. I am truth. Your truth is My love for you. Wait patiently. There is time for all things. Be with Me now. That is the time that matters.

See…I have…
