It was such a blessing this morning in our Friday Morning Prayer Group with members around the country and world. We shared blessings and prayers of need. As one of our group said, we were being a Mary who chose to be there (Luke 10:38-41) when there are always such pressing things to be done that could pull us away. There is something wonderful in listening to one another pray. We hear hearts opened up and tenderly turning to God in our prayers for each other and for the world.
In my own prayer afterward, God reminded me that like Martha, Mary’s sister, I worry about “many things”; as though I am the one who can solve them; how arrogant that is! He gently chided…let Me be your Lord and Savior…let Me be their Lord and Savior. As I turn to Him in prayer and give everything over to Him – setting aside the burden of worry – I can turn my eyes fully to Him and trust Him for the world and everyone in it. That’s so hard! I can learn patience but only with His help. That’s what I’m asking Him to teach me – how to truly trust Him for everything.
Reading Genesis 8, it told how long it took for the flood waters to recede and the steps Noah took with the birds let out to see if there was dry ground. Even when the dove didn’t return Noah waited. He waited trusting the same God who told him to build the Ark, to prepare and receive the animals and birds and living creatures that would repopulate the Earth – he waited until God told him to leave the Ark. v. 15.
A scripture verse we were blessed to receive in our group this morning was 2 Corinthians 12:9: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God’s grace, His love is sufficient for me. I will take that to heart and turn my fears and worries for all of us over to Him because His power is made perfect in weakness. We can’t solve the problems that plague this world; we succumb to illness both physical, mental, spiritual…we are weak. Let go. Turn to Him. Wait for Him patiently to do a good work in you as He opens your heart to receive Him. As you take His hand, His peace displaces fear and His light of eternal love will guide your steps. Trust Him to know what is best for you and me and everyone. Let God be God.
