What amazes me in reading God’s word is the references throughout the Bible to passages I’m reading. In Revelation 20 John writes what he sees in vision including the great battle after the thousand years of peace on the earth following the events of Revelation 19. When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth – Gog and Magog – and to gather them for battle. v. 7-8. In the commentary below it references Ezekiel 38-39 and reading those chapters you get the full description of this future battle. Ezekiel was written approximately 571 B.C. !
As I sat and pondered that in prayer, I realized that God has everything. Have you ever considered everything that God does? If you were in charge how would you bring everyone who ever was and will be to salvation? How big would your heart need to be to accomplish that? No one left behind. No one forgotten. No one not loved. No one not given free will to choose knowing they may choose not to accept your love….and remember, you love them dearly. I don’t have the brain capacity to understand the deep things of our day…the law, science, medicine, higher learning just to name a few.
I could hear birds trilling outside as I thought about all of this and realized God created their mouths for just such a song; and that He created in me a heart capable of enjoying that wonderful sound with Him. He delights in all He created and longs for us to delight in it with Him.
It’s amazing what you find when you read to appreciate and understand and go a little deeper. In all of this what I’m learning best is to trust God. He knows what He’s doing. I can only see a minuscule portion of mankind’s history…my history…and yet there is a huge sweep that only God can fully know. Nothing will be left undone. So I will walk this day with Him and share with Him my thoughts and love for all I see and hear. I’ll tune out the distractions as best I can but I will be distracted and He will still be there.
