Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I see faults in myself and others and wonder how will it ever be made good for all of us. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:37-38.
Every day God tells me to trust Him. His scripture is filled with promises fulfilled. Everything He tells me is for my good, for your good. I trust God, the source of all life. I marvel at the beauty He created. Without God there would be no life, no beauty, no hope and no instruction for how to live worthy of such great love. Love does no harm.
When I judge myself and others harshly, I do harm. Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, “Let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?” You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5. Jesus’ words.
There are no specks or planks in God’s eyes. He sees clearly and He knows our hearts. He knows what we need, what I need, and He promises to love us. In His great love He created the heavens and the Earth and all that is. He is capable to give correction when needed and He will do it for our good not for our harm.
When I trust God it removes burdens that are not mine to carry. I give them to God who is faithful and who acts with love for our good. Sometimes it’s a real struggle to trust God when I see so much that is wrong in this world and in people’s hearts…in my heart…but I have planks in my eyes so I can’t see clearly. My motives are selfish. I am of this world. Heal my heart, Lord. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2. If He can do that for me He can do that for you. Trust Him. He is the Creator of all life and hope. He alone knows our hearts and what is needed for our good.
