Death Throes of Sin

In reading about the trumpet blasts in Revelation 9 and the 2 woes that accompany the 5th and 6th trumpet blasts, I can’t help but think how unnecessary all of this is; if only people had repented and turned to God. One third of humanity killed. And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. v. 15. You would think people would turn to God and ask for His help. The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; and they did not stop worshipping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood – idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts. v. 20-21.

As I was thinking about all of this and wondering why people still would not repent, I realized we are still listening to Satan’s lies. They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is Destroyer). v. 11.

The Destroyer told Eve in the garden that she would not certainly die if she did what God warned her not to do. “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5.

Eve died. The Destroyer wants us to know evil and he is nothing like God. You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call on you. Psalm 86:5. Call on God. Repent and turn to God who saves and heals and builds us up in His truth and love. He is life. In Him there is no darkness and in His light the path to eternity is well lit with Him beside us leading us. Whom do you choose to follow?
