Precision

This morning looking out the window, I saw rows of sunshine stretched across the street, the sky a warm blue and the colors felt slightly different. In prayer I began to think about how we are past the longest day of the year and the days will begin to slowly shorten. I thought about this beautiful planet suspended in darkness and orbiting around the Sun with the other planets in their precise orbits. I thought about precision. NASA can plan years ahead to place it’s latest James Webb telescope millions of miles away; the Space Station can orbit Earth with precision as can satellites; as can the Earth, Moon and planets orbit the Sun; as can the Sun in its’ orbit within the Milky Way Galaxy. Precision.

I marveled and was comforted. I worship a God who is precise. As I was sharing all of these thoughts with Him in prayer this morning I could hear birdsong. Nothing is left undone. I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:1-8.

This morning in my devotional Jesus Calling, it said…Remember that I go before you as well as with you into this day. Nothing takes me by surprise. Precision.

I am so grateful for the Almighty God of precision and love who goes before me and with me and brings to mind marvelous truths that we walk into together. God watches over us. I pray you find time to sit quietly and listen to the rhythms of our patient, loving Lord. Listen to His voice deep in your soul and take His hand this day and be with Him. Open your heart and mind to Him and be renewed. He has much to teach us and He is patient and kind and watches over us.
