Present

This morning in our Friday Morning Prayer Group, we were reminded of this passage in The Message (MSG) translation: Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. Matthew 11: 28-30. Jesus tells us that.

We were also given this gift of thinking and being…be present. Be present with God. Not worrying about yesterday or thinking about tomorrow, but present. Suggestions in how to be present were to ask yourself where have I seen God in creation today? Where have I heard God in conversation today? Where have I seen God in circumstances today? Unforced rhythms of grace.

Yesterday reading in The Art of Spiritual Listening, was this…For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13. I loved that and sat quietly reading it several times.

I love that He works in me and that I can be present and more aware of His astounding presence and love. This morning He told me it’s not my place to judge others. He wants me to let His love for others flow through me. I asked Him how? My love is so inadequate and I am so quick to judge. And He reminds me…He works in me to will and to act according to his good purpose.

The Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit want me to be present with them. So I will trust them to show me the way and let go of my need to control. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. Psalm 48:14.
