Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.
One of the most important things I have discovered in my walk with God is to be still. To set aside time with Him. In that quiet time I pray, I quiet my thoughts. Sometimes I look at the trees in the distance gently swaying and am reminded of the beauty He has created just for us.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18.
The most important thing I am learning is that God is here with me. He created all that is seen. All that is temporary. What is unseen is eternal.
I am learning in the sacred quiet moments with Him is that though I cannot see Him, I can feel His Presence loving me, encouraging me, teaching me. I’m learning to listen to His voice. One of the comments made frequently by those who listened to Jesus was that He spoke with authority. That’s how God’s voice sounds to me. He speaks with authority. He knows and I can trust Him.
I pray you can discover for yourself the wonder of sitting quietly and waiting for God’s Presence to be with you. Give yourself time and grace because in this hectic, busy world we inhabit…the world that is temporary…it’s so hard to sit quietly and wait…to be still. The richness of being with Him is worth everything. Fix your eyes on Him…He is eternal.
