It Takes Everything

This morning in my quiet, sacred time with God after I had studied His word and prayed there was quiet. I became aware of every breath in and out; of my heart beating quietly, rhythmically. In that quiet space there was peace. The thought breath of life came to me and the song Breath of Heaven with the verses…Breath of heaven Hold me together Be forever near me Breath of Heaven Lighten my darkness Pour over me your holiness For you are holy Breath of Heaven. I became so aware of His closeness…as close as my breath….and there was quiet, peace.

Yesterday I was watching the recorded Open Table Conference discussion of Revelation 7 presented by Paul Young with insights from the panelists. When he read verse 17 he became almost overcome. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17. God is so close he will wipe away every tear. Can you truly imagine? So close He will wipe away every tear. Do you have tears you long for Him to wipe away?

The Shepherd and springs of living water brings to mind Psalm 23. The Lord is my Shepherd. What does it take to draw near to the Shepherd? It takes everything.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8.

Taste and see. We prepare and train for so many things in this life; things that are important. Do we consider how important is our relationship with God? If we can understand the need to prepare for our career choices, our vocations how can we not see the need to prepare our hearts to taste and see that the Lord is good?

What I read this morning lead to this blog. Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 3: 14-15.

God’s household….the pillar and foundation of the truth. I think that’s why God had me sit quietly for so much longer than normal. God gives us every breath. He doesn’t want us to abandon our lives, our careers, our families. He wants us to turn to Him and realize that without Him, there is nothing. No breath without Him.

The truly amazing part is that far from giving up the busyness of our lives He adds so much more when we turn to Him. I remember when I was pregnant with our second child and I couldn’t imagine loving another child as much as I loved our first. God took care of that, too. My heart expanded to include our second and third and not one drop of love was sacrificed….there was so much more.

Taste and see that the Lord is good…

What does it take to invite God into your life…it takes everything and the abundance you will find will magnify everything you now have. To be a part of God’s household…ask. Trust Him to lead you beside still waters of calm and learn from Him how much He loves you and wants to be part of your life…your every breath from Heaven.
