A Bridge Through Time: The Chosen

If you have never seen the drama The Chosen, you are missing something special.

One of the best things about drawing nearer to God is realizing how personal He is and how close…He is as close as a prayer, a thought, a nudge.

I so remember the moment a few years ago when I reached out to God asking Him to please let me know Him. You can read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation many times; you can attend Church faithfully; you can try to go it alone and in prayer stay connected. When you cry out for more, though, He responds. He responded to my plea to know Him and not just read the Bible again. I wanted to meet Him in the pages I was about to embark upon yet again. It’s so hard to relate to people who lived over 6,000 years ago whose customs and language are so different and foreign.

What I found was a new and vital connection. I felt like I was in partnership with Him and no longer on the periphery of biblical events. My heart was opened to receiving and He gave and gives. I feel closer to Him and to the people I read about in the history of God’s reaching out to all of us…He didn’t just speak to Moses or Abraham…he speaks to me, too, through His Word, through nudges, through thoughts I realize are His gentle leading, through answered prayer.

One of the most poignant and personal bridges is The Chosen. In watching the first 2 Seasons, I have felt as though time has been stitched together and I am there with the Disciples, with Jesus, with the people He healed, with the people he laughed with, taught and loved and agonized with. They are more real and personal and I find myself identifying with their myriad problems, issues, fears, joys and the years separating us are gone! They are real and personal. It’s such a comfort to know they were imperfect, messy, fearful, brave…in short…gloriously human and flawed. The Chosen series is free and so worth checking out and watching as millions around the world are finding and celebrating.

I love bridges. They get us from one place to another. Find God. Find the bridge to His love and run with that newfound understanding! #WordPrompt
