Obedience Is Trusting Our God and His Love

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Proverbs 3:5 AMP.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12 NKJV.

When we look around at all the turmoil and confusion in this present age, can we long for clarity for what is good? The more upheaval I see in this world, the more I long for our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. And the more I am thankful for His faithfulness, for His gentleness in teaching so unlike the clamoring and insistence of the ways of this world. As you begin to walk with God and learn from Him, His love goes straight to your heart and soul – active, alive, penetrating through all the confusion and bringing us into the light of His truth.

And so the psalmist knew and shared…Psalm 128: Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to Him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this blessing will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you live to see your children’s children – peace be on Israel.

The psalms speak of the peace we all long for. As we trust in God, we find that peace. We find that hope in Him. We begin to realize that we can trust our faithful God to provide all that is needed. Maybe it’s a quiver full of children, maybe it’s no children at all; maybe it’s direction in His will for us or for healing or help in distress. Maybe it’s help to trust Him – to believe Him. It begins with a prayer. Lord, help me to know You. Help my heart to be open to You. Help me to love You and trust You. Help me to pour out my need and to listen when You answer. Help me believe You when You speak of Your love for us. You give so much. Thank You for giving life. Thank You that Your love cuts through all the confusion and brings us Your peace. Thank You for helping us see that obedience to You is not a heavy burden but a lifting of our hearts and minds to all that is good for all of us in You.
